Barum crash 4-0 at Toolstation leaders Dawlish Town

Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 08:09

OWEN PICKARD suffered his first defeat as a manager when Barnstaple Town lost 4-0 at league leaders Dawlish Town.

It was a lacklustre display from Barum who never recovered after Darren Goff's early own goal.

An error-prone defence was punished three more times in the second half by Joe Bushin, Dean Stevens and Darren Vickery.

Even after the hosts had Liam Moseley sent off in the 56th minute for throwing the ball at Jamie Skinner, they controlled possession.

By then however, it was already 3-0 and could have been several more as Jimmy Thorne's goal remained under constant attack.

Barum's only real chance came late in the game when skipper Kevin Squire directed a weak header straight at the goalkeeper.

The evening had started badly for Town when young striker Stan Paxton — who struck twice in the draw against Sherborne Town — was injured in the warm up.

Barnstaple Town: Jimmy Thorne, Steve Avery, Keith Shapland (Cory Roach 70), Steve Shore, Darren Goff, Kevin Darch, Ian Patchett, Jamie Skinner (Chris Eveleigh 70), Luke Austen, Kevin Squire, Martyn Sullivan.
