WINNERS: Eastleigh won the 2008 Errea South West Challenge Cup.

ORGANISERS of the Errea South West Challenge Cup have confirmed the event will take place again in summer 2009.

Last July, North Devon hosted the inaugural pre-season football tournament, featuring a mix of professional and semi-professional clubs.

Torquay United, Yeovil Town and Crystal Palace were among the sides that took part in the competition, staged by Appledore, Bideford and Barnstaple Football Clubs.

Details on the hosts clubs and invited teams will be confirmed by the Tournament Executive in the coming weeks.

Tony Yaskin, managing director for Errea South West, said: "It is with considerable pleasure that I can confirm our participation in and support for the second year of this competition, building on the knowledge and success of last year.

"I am absolutely convinced we will stage another memorable and intensely exciting event.

"We will be putting considerable resources at the disposal of the Tournament Executive and making certain the entire North Devon sporting and business community see real benefit from our presence."

Bluesquare South outfit Eastleigh won last year's competition, beating Torquay United on penalties at the Sports Ground.
