Ford motors to a century for Molton

DOMINIC FORD was in fine form with the bat as North Molton cruised to victory over Bratton Fleming second XI.

Ford cracked 125 in his team's 190-run win in the fourth division of the Farm and Cottage Holidays North Devon League.

They reached 359 for four with James Geen (68) and Matt Geen (34) helping to set an imposing target. Reed then claimed four for 19 and Henry Dunn two for five in seven overs as Bratton struggled to 169 for nine.

Lynton and Lynmouth second XI were far more successful chasing Kelseymen's 258 for eight.

They were struggling at 97 for five but Alistair Rodway (74) laid the foundations before Nick Bowen (66no) and Conor Constable (40no) carried them over the winning line.

Earlier, Martin Seward struck 115 before he was caught by Matt Falkner. Gary Brooks weighed in with a half century for the visitors, while Rodway (2-24) was the pick of the bowlers.

Newton Tracey second XI maintained their lead as John Turner (69) and Graham Persson (32) led the chase against Victoria Park second XI.

They won by eight wickets with 16 overs left after Tim Lane (47), Marcus Bath (31) and Matt Dennis (28) helped the Bideford side reach 158. Jon Turner took two for 30 and Connor Nash claimed three for 23 before returning with the bat to score 30.

In the fifth division, Max Curtis retired on a tremendous 150 as North Devon third XI beat Cheriton Fitzpaine by 254 runs.

Matt Knapman hit 45 and colts Ali Kelly (34) and Ben Anger (29) added to the large target. Casey Elliot (5-13) and James Meredith (2-14) helped dismiss the visitors for 108.

Filleigh third XI won by 49 runs against Nomansland on Saturday but missed out by 40 runs against Heathcoat the following day.

Simon Prosser top scored with 64 against Nomansland and Tim Henry (3-28) ensured the visitors were bowled out for 118.

Karl Shaw and Sam Witheridge each grabbed three wickets against Heathcoat but the leaders' 192 proved too much. The reply fell short despite the efforts of Witheridge (40no) and James Popplewell (41).

An unbeaten 65 from skipper Kelvyn Warren could not halt Bishop's Nympton's slide against Barnstaple and Pilton third XI. Chris Newton (3-20) and Dan McCreadie (2-22) ensured they were all out on 135, chasing Barum's 167 for eight.
