Ilfracombe thrashed by Wellington in FA Vase

Confidence has hit rock bottom at Ilfracombe Town following an heavy defeat to Wellington Town in the FA Vase this afternoon.

Defensive dithering was severely punished as the Bluebirds were crushed 7-3 at Marlborough Park to lose for the sixth consecutive game.

"It was a bit of a circus act to be honest," said manger Barry Yeo.

"Confidence is a massive thing in football and it's something you can't buy, but I wish I could because I'd go out and spend a fortune on it."

The visitors took just seconds to open the scoring and things just got worse for the Bluebirds from there.

Ricky Marinaro briefly raised spirits with a freekick and although Aiden Harper-Penman added the second on the stroke of half time, by then Combe trailed 5-1.

Mark Clunie claimed the third but the goals continued to leak through at the other end.

An injury to Karl Madge meant the hosts played the last 10 minutes with 10 men, but by then, the damage had been done.

Yeo will demand vast improvements when Dawlish Town come to Marlborough Park in the Toolstation Premier on Tuesday.

"A freak result like that is something that won't happen again as long as I'm in charge," he said.

"Every single player as got to go home and have a look at themselves.

"Players have been told, things have been said. We have had a meeting about it and things are out in the open.

"Hopefully I can bring in a couple of players very soon."
