Schiller's stunner caps Bideford win

AN OUTSTANDING goal from Sam Schiller was the highlight of Bideford's 5-1 win over Barnstaple AAC in the Senior Division.

Receiving the ball with his back to goal, Schiller controlled with his chest and volleyed into the top corner from 20 yards.

That gave the Robins a 3-0 lead and they went on to win 5-1 — taking their tally to 19 goals in four league games with some of their best football of the season.

Oli Cole headed the opener in the first minute and despite losing Richard Chumbley with an ankle injury, Ian Keen soon doubled the lead with a ferocious shot.

Although Steve Isaac robbed defender Simon Langmead to cut the deficit, Bideford's excellent form continued after the break. Elliot Macdonald chipped in from 25 yards and Hector Christie completed the win from close range.

Up the road at Northam Lions, referee Ian Johns did his best to get the match with Pilton played. Unfortunately the icy conditions became too dangerous and the game was abandoned at half-time with the visitors leading 1-0 courtesy of Tony Higgs.
