One-stop shops launched to provide locals with information on council services
MINI one-stop shops where local people can get information on North Devon Council services have been launched in three villages.
The customer enquiry points are up and running in Braunton, Combe Martin and Fremington.
Residents can now talk to someone in person about council services in these areas without having to travel to either the Civic Centre, the Ilfracombe Centre or the Amory Centre in South Molton.
The information points have been created after a partnership between North Devon Council and the parish councils in the respective areas.
North Devon Council leader councillor Des Brailey, who is also lead member for goods and improving services, said: "I am delighted that we've been able to work with these three parish councils to provide this high quality service to residents. Not only is it more convenient for local people to speak to someone face-to-face about our services in their own community, but we hope it will mean issues are brought to our attention sooner, so that we can deal with them quicker."
The parish clerks for Braunton, Combe Martin and Fremington have all been given training on North Devon Council's services so that they can run the customer enquiry points and deal with requests about waste and recycling collections, fly-tipping and other environmental health issues.
Planning applications can also be viewed at each of the three locations.
The offices are at the Braunton council offices in Chaloners Road, Combe Martin village hall in the High Street and Fremington parish hall in Higher Road.

“Mr Brailey shows cynical disregard for the facts in his efforts to put himself and the Controlling Tory¿s in a good light. The truth is that the arrangement with the three Parish Councils was introduced by the Lib Dems over 10 years ago and has worked well.”
