Barnstaple’s Petroc College hands over CCTV to police after four students brawl
Petroc College in Barnstaple has handed over CCTV footage to police of a brawl involving four students and a parent.
Four police cars and an ambulance were called to the scene shortly after 9am this morning after a fight broke out on the college campus.

Police said a dad was “assaulted” after trying to intervene in the fight between four male students.
He suffered grazing and bruising to the face and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Three of the students involved were “street bailed” by officers at the scene. They will be required to attend Barnstaple Police Station in due course.
Police said no weapons were involved and none of the students suffered serious injuries in the ruckus, although one boy sustained grazes.
A spokeswoman from Petroc confirmed the college had handed over CCTV footage of the incident to officers.
She said: “We can confirm there was an altercation at the entrance to Petroc’s Barnstaple Campus this morning.
“Staff dealt with the incident swiftly, ensuring the college’s safeguarding procedures were followed.
“The safety of our students is of paramount importance to us and we are assisting the police in their investigations by providing the CCTV footage to aid this process.”
Students began tweeting about the incident after police arrived.

Police said officers are carrying out local enquiries to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
