EASY-TO-READ, illustrated maps are to be placed in frames in all of Ilfracombe's car parks, to help new visitors find their way around.

The maps were originally designed by Image Makers for Transform, to show three different historic walks around the town.

Now Grainge Architects have updated the original artwork, which was commissioned by Transform, into at-a-glance guides for tourists visiting the town, to help them explore the town.

The map (shown right) includes major landmarks such as the Landmark Theatre, Lantern Hill and Capstone as well as attractions such as the Tunnels Beaches and popular spots such as the beaches and harbour. It also directs visitors to find shops, galleries, cliff walks and hotels in the town.

As well as being placed in every car park, a copy of the map will also be placed on the Quay to help ferry passengers orientate themselves.

“Yawn. Wake me up when this actually happens.

Until then this is just another pointless non-story.”
