IF you are looking to get out in the fresh air this weekend – weather premitting – then a trip to Haldon Forest Park, near Exeter, could be answer, especially if you and your family enjoy walking and cycling.

The Park offers more than 40km of walking and cycling trails for all abilities. There's also a cycle skills area and pump loop so people can practise their skills. Forest Cycle Hire are also on site if you don't want to take your own bikes and they have a range of options for small children such as tag alongs. The Ridge Cafe is open every day.

Bellever Forest on Dartmoor is another beautiful spot for walking and a great picnic site too. And there are lots of forests to explore further afield too.

An annual membership pass – the Discovery Pass – offers you the opportunity to park for free at Forestry Commission woodlands and offers discounts off shopping. A Discovery Pass gives you discounts at Go Ape and breaks at Forest Holiday cabins. Details: www.forestry.gov.uk/forestfit
