Organised by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), schools were invited to produce a map of their village which was user-friendly and would enable a visitor to find their way around. While Bradworthy won the top prize for producing the highest quality and most useful maps, other North Devon schools also scooped awards.
Both Burrington and Rackenford primaries were highly commended runners up.
Individual awards also went to nine-year-old Holly Bonner and Laura Fraser-Smith, 10, from Burrington Primary School. Holly received the Individual Map Award for 2011 and Laura received a highly commended. Sebastian Smith, 10, from Rackenford Primary, was also highly commended.
Penny Mills from the CPRE said: "This has been a particularly difficult competition to judge this year because the standard was very high."
She said there were some vivid colours and remarkable designs and the children's imagination gave judges a wonderful child's-eye view of where they lived.
